Participating on the Cadence Horsemanship Performance Team is a fun way to improve your riding skills and enhance your horse's training. The team also fosters commitment, leadership, teamwork and good horsemanship.
The Performance Team is available to perform and/or present the colors at local rodeos, schools, funerals, senior retirement homes, and area dedications and ceremonies.
The team rides in 6 parades annually. The parade schedule generally includes: Lost Dutchman Days, Cave Creek Rodeo Days, Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo Parade, Phoenix Veteran's Day Parade, El Mirage Holiday Parade, Glendale's Hometown Christmas Parade. To be eligible to ride in Parades with the performance team, riders and their mounts must complete a Parade Sensory Clinic or have approval of a Performance Team Captain.
Mounted Drill Presentations:
During these presentations the team performs choreographed maneuvers to music while mounted on horseback. Riders know that the drill is well done when they look easy to the audience. Drill maneuvers should flow evenly from one exercise to another with even rating and spacing. To be eligible to ride in Mounted Drill Presentations, riders and their mounts must regularly attend Performance Team practices.
Presentation of the Colors:
The presentation of colors is a ceremony presenting a flag. The "colors" refer to a flag. At any given time, several Performance Team members are available to present the colors at community events. In addition, members are occasionally asked to honor a deceased local veteran at a wake or funeral. "Being entrusted with this honor is something we all take great pride in to remind the public of the enormous commitment made by our country’s service men and women to protect our nation and our freedom” says Cadence Horsemanship Performance Team Captain, Kristin Corredor.
